Week in review...

My bad for not regularly blogging the details of my life. I will try to do better (I think I have heard this said in my other blogs as well...lol)

The week has been interesting. I got a call out of the blue from someone I don't know looking for cheap consulting services. I always wonder a bit about those folks (although truth be told, I used to try to "go around" someone to get a cheaper deal). What is it that the company they bought the gooods from did to upset the relationship? On the other hand, being a former business owner many times over, I understand the ego and drive of saying "it is us against the world" and I don't need help. (BTW- I am over that now :) )

I also got a call from Keith in NY. He and his partner Mike are starting a new business and were checking to see if I might have an interest. Time will tell on that one. But I have had some lucrative job offers up there that I turned down because of the weather, so it would have to be an amazing deal to get me in.

Although it has been raining heavily off and on this week, the pool business has been pretty good.

Probably the most interesting part of the week was dealing with a mortgage broker who happens to be a friend. I have found a couple of houses that could turn some bucks either through rent or by flipping.

I had her pre-approve me for a loan. I guess my credit is better than I thought. When she told me how much I could borrow, I started to wonder about the companies she is dealing with. Are they crazy??????

Mid-week, I thought to my alledged mind that a trip down to Florida for the 4th would be fun. It has been a long while since I could afford to make a decision like that seemingly at the spur of the moment.

So I called my St. Augustine buddy Jim and we have a place to stay for 4 nights on the beach for free. Jim is an old friend who I have done some work for who used to go to my church. His business was split between Florida and Georgia and about 6 years ago made the move down to St. Augustine permanently.

The anticipated trip and the pre-approval loan amount got me to thinking. Maybe it is time to move down to St. Augustine after all?? We have talked about it before. We even put an offer on a house down there 3 years ago. Maybe now is the time to make the break?

Maybe St. Augustine is where the coffee house is going to end up. Intuitively, I know that there IS going to be a coffee house in my life. Last week, while I was in California, I met a former coffee service business owner. I thought that may have been serendipity at its' finest, but wanted to dismiss the thought. On the other hand, it brought back the coffee house jones.

Anyhow, I have an 8 hour drive ahead of me. I am trying to beat the traffic.

The comment IS king!

If you have been writing in a blog as much as I have (while this one is new, the others are over 3 years old), you like feedback.

Feedback provides validity of what you write has value. The fact of the matter is that when you either write a rant or detail your personal thoughts/inspirations, you are kind of bummed out by the experience.

Since I really enjoy the feedback, I have decided that where available, I would leave some sort of comment each day I visited someone’s blog. Sometimes, my only comment would be…”Hey, read your page today. C’ Ya!” Since that didn’t offer much relevance other than that someone had read, I have tried to refrain from that type of comment. I understand that logic anyhow. Lord knows, there are some days that are more drivel than substance.

Comments are just like a Lay’s potato chip. One just won’t do you. Links are the same way. I can remember when I did a link search to see what sites had linked to my other blog. That was a big day! (And there were only 2 at the time…lol)

So while I do have other comments regarding my adventures in California, I need a little time to dialogue them better than the random thoughts that I currently have on the pages. With that in mind, I will leave you with this and hope to hear from you soon.
